Additional Blog Post: The Finished Project

Hello, all. The project has been finished, with the presentation uploaded to my portfolio website, under my "Projects" tab. Please feel free to view it.

If you recall, my final steps for this project were as follows:

The Final Steps Part 1:

 - Materials and Demo Reel:

        - Utilize Adobe Substance 3D Painter to produce a tire material based off the Sumitomo reference photo (In-progress).

        - Create a coldplate/HDRi scene for enhanced renders (In-progress).

        - Finish the rough demo reel for Week 15 (Complete).

The Final Steps Part 2:

 - Composites:

        - Utilize Adobe Photoshop/After Effects to create a diverse set of 3-5 posters/illustrations.

        - The final renders will be utilized to mimic various Porsche advertisements, and all will be part of the demo reel.

        - Final products, Blog, WIP will be presented through my current portfolio website which I currently maintain regularly.

All of this has been finished, and I will document my workflow here with some finished pictures and WIP pictures, as well as the demo reel.

I began by importing the tire model into Substance, painted a basic tire-like brush onto it with the auto-unwrap function, and then projected the materials of the Sumitomo tirewall onto the model. Then I exported it to Maya and assigned the material maps (Normal, roughness, specularity, metallic) and created an HDRi scene.

The HDRi scene was created with assets from HDRi Haven which are free of use if anyone is interested. I created an invisible plane for casting shadows as well, which can be seen on the tire.

I later created a custom car paint material for the front hood of the car, and though it is just barely visible, you can see some light wear and tear on the hood for additional realism, near the crest.

This paint material acts very different depending on the HDRI environment:

The Boxster trunk was not given the custom paint material as Maya encountered a corrupted crash unfortunately, however this is possibly a boon as the Boxster logo is more readable under a less noisy reflection.

After I created a few renders, I composited them into Adobe Photoshop to create mock-up advertisements.

The next blog post will have the demo reel attached alongside an explanation.
